“As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?”
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled”.
Hungry people get filled! What you’re hungry for will begin to come in your direction. What do you want? God’s glory or the goods of this life? If anything apart from God’s presence, glory and love will satisfy you, that’s all you’ll have.
David would rather be a doorkeeper in God’s house than be elsewhere in the world, that was why God was so much committed to him. He was hungry for God and His presence and he had abundance of His glory, enjoyed divine guidance and mercy.
Many people seek after God just for His power to solve their immediate problems and once that is done, they zoom off to do things they love and enjoy. Such a life is filled with regular shots of the enemy’s arrows, because he (the enemy) knows they’ll soon stray from the divine presence.
Your hunger is seen in what you look for, go after passionately; what you’re ready to spend your money, time, energy and love over! Is it the Lord? Is it His presence? Why would you read your Bible? For financial breakthroughs or to know the Lord intimately, please Him and be filled with His ways? Why would you come to church? To receive prayers for that problem, or to be in His presence once again and be taught His ways and learn more of His Spirit?
May the right hunger consume you in Jesus’ name.
