I want to show you some STEPS TO ABRAHAM’S FAITH since we know this is the kind of faith that produces a divine outcome.
Genesis 15:1-2 “After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
The first step is that HE IDENTIFIED WHAT HE REALLY WANTED. You cannot get anything from God if you don’t identify what you want. Don’t just pray for praying sake. You must have a focus in your prayer life if you will have a powerful and result-oriented prayer life. Identifying your specific need is the first step to a RESULT-ORIENTED PRAYER LIFE.
The second step is that HE HAD A PROMISE FOR IT. You must find the promise of God that covers what you are asking for, and that will involve searching the scriptures. There is a promise of God that covers any problem a man can encounter on the earth. Heb. 6:13 says “For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he swore by himself.” Abraham had God’s promise, he looked for it and he got it. The promises of God are revealed to you either through His spoken word to your spirit or as you diligently search the scriptures. For every problem that exists in your life, there is a promise of God in the Bible that is available to solve that problem.
The third step is that HE PUT THE PROMISE OF GOD IN HIS MOUTH. Until you put the promise of God in your mouth, it will not work. Your language must become the language of the word of God. Don’t ever go to pray about anything until you find out what God has said about it. Genuine, scriptural prayer is actually praying the word of God. He said His Word shall not return to Him void (Isaiah 55:11).
The fourth step is that HE ACTED ACCORDING TO THE PROMISE AS IF IT IS FULFILLED. Abraham changed his actions and caused them to line up with the promise of God.
The last step was that ABRAHAM BEGAN TO CALL THOSE THINGS THAT BE NOT AS THOUGH THEY WERE. That took place when God changed his name from ‘high father’ to ‘the father of a multitude.’ ABRAHAM BEGAN TO CALL HIMSELF BY HIS PROMISE AND WHAT DID NOT HAPPEN IN TWENTY-FOUR YEARS HAPPENED IN NINE MONTHS!
If you will see the power of God operate in your life, you will have to change your language to that of God’s word! You have to call the things that be not as though they were.
